WhatsApp has released a new update via the TestFlight beta Program, raising the version to 23.6.0.73 or 2.23.6.73 in WhatsApp Settings, with TestFlight build 23.6.0 (458666918). The update features a new under-development capability discovered in the business version of the app – the ability to record and send short videos up to 60 seconds, which will be available in a forthcoming update of the app.

With this latest feature, WhatsApp users can now record and send short videos of up to 60 seconds by simply pressing the camera button. This new way of communicating with friends on WhatsApp works similar to voice notes, but with the added benefit of capturing and sharing video content. Video messages can help better convey emotions and expressions than voice notes or text alone, and are ideal for situations where visual demonstration is needed, like showing someone how to use a new product.

Moreover, video messages on WhatsApp are end-to-end encrypted, meaning that no one, not even WhatsApp, Meta, or any proxy provider, can view shared video messages. It is also not possible to save or forward video messages to other conversations, thus guaranteeing user privacy. However, users can still take screenshots.

Currently, the capability to send video messages is in the works for the iOS app and will be available in a future update. We will provide more details on this exciting new way of communication as they become available. Meanwhile, WhatsApp users can look forward to a more engaging way of staying connected with their friends on the platform.
